RV Bathroom Accessories
Shower basics
Taking showers in your own RV is so much easier and convenient than having to take that later evening trip to the campground bathhouse.
And the best part is, you do not need much to make it functional!
Here are some of the few items that you can use to help stock and organize your shower.
Shower pole
Chances are, your RV already has a shower door or curtains are already hung from a ceiling track. That being said, if your RV is older or you would like extra space to hang clothes or towels for drying, then a shower curtain tension rod might do the trick!
This AmazonBasics Tension Shower Curtain Rod is simple enough to get the job done and can easily adjust to different sizes.
- Spring-pull tension curtain rod for showers, windows, closet doors, and more
- Durable, lightweight metal with a Chrome finish
- Adjustable length from 54 - 90 inches; simply twist to achieve tension
- 1.4-inch classic finials with rubber end caps for traction and a sturdy hold; no drilling or holes needed to install
- 7/8-inch rod diameter capable of handling a variety of fabrics; 7 pound weight capacity
Command Hooks
Another important staple in bathroom organization is a good Command Bathroom Hook with Water-Resistant Strips. You can use it to hang towels, shower caddies, or even bathing suits you want to dry inside the shower!
Shower caddy
If your shower does not come with shelves, or the shelves are not large or functional, then you will need to find better ways to organize your bathroom products.
If the walls inside your shower are smooth, then this Shower Shelf Suction Cup is the way to go! If can hold a great amount of weight without the use or adhesive or drilling holes!
The bottom has a slight slant and drainage holes, which will make it easy to keep it clean and without any yucky soap scum accumulation!
Hanging Mesh Pocket organizers
If your RV bathroom shower does not have smooth walls, then it might be difficult to make the suction cup organizer work for you.
That is why I love this versatile Misslo Hanging Mesh Pockets Shower Organizer. I can easily hang from your shower door or curtain rod.
- Nylon Mesh Fabric
- Travel shower caddy has 4 large mesh pockets each hold 34oz / 1000ml shampoo, 4 smaller pockets, quick drying and breathable;
- Rust proof metal grommets, 3 metal over the door hooks included for this hanging bathroom organizer;
- Shower storage organization also can use your existing shower hooks onto your existing shower curtain, liner and rod;
- Bath storage holds Toiletries, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, or other personal care items to free up your corner/shelf space;
- Wipe with a damp cloth or wash by hand.
And if you don’t have a shower door or curtain rod? You can easily get a shower curtain tension rod as I recommended in the first item! See how handy those can be?
Mesh organizers are so handy that I actually use them in my home. They can be washed, which is great to keep soap scum from accumulating.
Lanyard bottles
If you want to take a minimalist approach to RV bathroom accessories, you might want to consider the Leak Proof Travel Bottles with Shower Lanyard.
I LOVE this lanyard and have been using it for years. It is the perfect toiletry compliment for camping and traveling in general!
I keep mine hanging in my RV shower from the command hook I recommended earlier. And if I feel like taking a long shower in the bathhouse, I can simply take my lanyard and hang it from the bathhouse shower head.
Right now I share mine with my little kids, but you can easily get different colors for each of your family members and hang them on designated command hooks for each.
I can’t explain how convenient these are!
- High Quality Silicone Material
- TSA AIRLINE CARRY-ON APPROVED: 4 Pack of 3.3oz silicone bottles
- Each silicone bottle has a rotatable ID Window so you can change the text that shows.
- The self-sealing valve in the lid and silicone gasket placed around the collar rim stops fluid leaking & side leakage accordingly
- Come with a hole on the main body of the travel bottle, hang it to the matched shower Lanyard or a hook to squeeze out the shampoo
- The shower line is 31.5 inches in bare length and 0.6 inch in width.

Shower Mirror
Our small 16-foot camper does not have a mirror anywhere, which is usually not an issue. Every once in awhile though, it is handy to have one (like that time I had to get ready for a Thanksgiving dinner in my camper using my phone’s selfie camera because I did not have a mirror…)
The reason I love The Shave Well Company Deluxe Anti-Fog Shower Mirror is that it is quite simple and lightweight.
There is nothing fancy about it, and you can easily hang it from different areas in your RV if you have command hooks!
Other Bathroom Essentials
Suction Cup Mirror
As I said earlier, my RV bathroom does not come with a mirror. This is usually not an issue, yet it is still convenient to have one sometimes, especially those of us that want to make sure we don’t look like camping zombies…
That is why I like this Lighted 7X Magnifying Mirror with Powerful Suction Cup. It is small and easy to carry, and the light feature makes it great to make up for the poor lighting in our bathroom!
Bathroom Rug
Our camper bathroom is TINY, so it is important to have a rug that is small, yet absorbent enough to get the job done.
I use these Klickpick Designs Thick Plush Bath Mats in my camper and in my home. They have a non-skid bottom, absorb well, come in small sizes, and are so comfy! Even with all of this, they are easy to wash and keep clean!
Over the door racks/hooks
Our camper bathroom does not have any place to hang towels. I am not a fan of drilling holes in my camper walls, so installing a towel rack is just not an option for me.
Instead, I use over the door hanging rods to help with this. You can either get hooks like these, or you can get an Over-Door Triple Towel Rack. It is just a matter of preference!
Organizing Shelves
These have been a life-changing addition to our small RV Bathroom. Our camper bathroom came with bare walls, and so we had to find a way to use all of that empty space for organization and storage.
As I mentioned earlier, I do not like the idea of drilling holes on my walls, especially to hang heavy shelves.
We looked for months for a bathroom shelving unit, but most were too big and too deep to go over our small toilet.
This IKEA DYNAN Shelving Unit came to the rescue! It is just a touch wider than the space we had, but the legs are flexible enough to bend slightly and fit in the space between our shower and our wall.
The shelves are not too deep, which means they do not get in the way and we still have plenty of space to use the toilet comfortably.
I will say, we still had to drill a couple of holes…so much for avoiding them, right?
The reason I did not mind this time is that the holes are not weight-bearing. We simply used pop-rivets to keep the shelves by the wall to avoid having them moving around during transit.

Bathroom counter-top organizer
Do you have an actual countertop in your bathroom? We don’t, but if you do, then having a small and practical organizer will help keep the clutter down, especially for families!
This Simple Houseware 6 Slots Toothbrush Holder gets the job done. It holds the essentials you need to keep handy, such as your soap, toothpaste, and plenty of toothbrushes for the whole family!
Toothbrush holder
This is a great alternative if you prefer to keep fewer things on your countertops. This Camco Pop-A-Toothbrush Wall Mounted Toothbrush Holder actually closes, keeping your toothbrushes in place during transit.
As a microbiologist, I can’t help but recommend you keep the cover open during the day to allow your toothbrushes to dry properly and prevent the early growth of bacteria.
- Accommodates two toothbrushes with an out-of-the-way, space-saving design that maximizes your camper storage space.
- The protective cover automatically flips open when you pull your toothbrush forward. After you are done brushing your teeth, the vented design allows your toothbrush to dry quickly.
- This white, durable plastic toothbrush holder measures 5 13/16-inches (H) x 4-inches (W) x 2-inches (D).
- The provided double-sided tape allows you to permanently mount Pop-A-Toothbrush to your bathroom wall without any drilling required. Holes are provided for optional screw mounting.
Bath Towels
When I was shopping for RV bathroom accessories, I went the traditional route and bought cheap, regular bath towels.
It did not take long to realize that they were not the best option for campers.
Not only do they take up a lot of space, but they are also fairly heavy, and worse yet, take forever to dry.
This is usually not an issue at home, but it is more of an issue in the camper.
Of course, I put them outside to dry when possible, but sometimes it is raining or simply too humid (thanks, Florida).
Switching to these Turkish Cotton Bath Towels made a HUGE difference and solved all of our towel issues!
They dry so much faster, and they take up a fraction of the space as traditional towels. I also love the different colors and designs you can get!
Yes, they are slightly more expensive, but towels last a very long time.
So do yourself a favor and get these Turkish Bath towels.
You’re welcome 😉
Hand and Face Towels
Hand towels are handy…
Sorry, I just had to say do it 😀
But seriously, it is always a good idea to use separate towels for your face as opposed to the rest of your body.
As I emphasized in my previous point, Turkish cotton towels are ideal for RVs because they are much lighter in weight, take up less space, and dry much faster than traditional terry towels.
And once again, these Turkish Cotton Hand/Face Towels are also pretty to look at!
Toiletry Bag
Ok, this is not specific for RV or camper, but I decided I should recommend it anyway.
This is what I use because our camper does not have a bathroom sink (just a dish sink), so we do not have a dedicated bathroom space or countertop.
If you are in the same situation, then you would benefit from a practical toiletry bag like this Mountaintop Toiletry Bag for Camping and Travel.
It is small and lightweight, but large enough to fit the essentials. You can hang it open to access your essentials while in use, and then store it away neatly when you are done!
This also allows you the flexibility to use the bathhouse, if that is your preference.

Toilet Stall
It is time to talk about some dirty business…
Here are the RV bathroom accessories that will help you keep your toilet area organized and clean!
Toilet Paper Holder
My camper did not come with one, so I found this Toilet Paper Holder Stand with Top Shelf quite useful.
It takes little space, can hold multiple rolls of RV toilet Paper, and even has a shelf for wipes!
*Please, please, please DO NOT flush wipes down your toilet. I BEG YOU. Not only do you risk clogging your system, but you will also end up clogging the sewer connections and dump stations. I have seen what happens. It is awful. If you use wipes (we do), then please put them in a trash can!
Cleaning
In order to keep your RV Bathroom clean, you need the right tools and chemicals. Here are the most important ones to keep handy.
Black tank chemicals
Your holding tanks need to be maintained in order to avoid clogs and to ensure dirty and gunk does not interfere with the sensors.
Luckily, there are a myriad of products in the market for this.
I personally like the TankTechsRx RV Holding Tank Treatment & Cleaner.
It is an unscented treatment that works for grey and black tanks. It contains beneficial bacteria and enzymes that break down waste.
Because it is specifically designed for use in RVs and boats, you can rest assured that the chemicals in this treatment will not damage your RV piping.

Toilet Cleaner
Star brite Toilet Bowl Cleaner is yet another product specifically designed for use in RVs and Boats.
This way, you will be able to keep your toilet bowl clean without being concerned about damaging the materials.
Plunger
It is never a bad idea to have a plunger handy, and I like this Toilet Plunger and Brush Combo Caddy Set that I use at home and in my camper.
Do keep in mind that the plunger will only work with clogs that are near the top.
This is a good time to remind you that the best way to prevent clogs is to not flush down anything that is not for RVs!. In other words: No wipes or household toilet paper!

Hard Surface Cleaner
I like Mrs. Meyer’s products, and I use Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner at home and in my camper.
I will say, I am not a chemophobe and I have no problem using chemicals for cleaning purposes. The reason I like these products is that they are plant-derived, not tested on animals, and they smell nice!
That being said, keep in mind that products like these will not have the same disinfecting properties that chlorine or hydrogen peroxide-based products do. For that reason, I always keep Lysol wipes in my camper.
Pipe cleaner
I am a woman with long hair…I think we know where this goes.
Using harsh chemicals in RV pipes is not ideal, so I like to keep these clog removers to make sure our drains stay working properly.
Your RV Bedding Essentials
To finish off this article, I wanted to give you a hand with your RV bedding needs as well.
RV bedding can be tricky because the sizes are not the same as household beds. That makes it challenging to find quality products that will actually fit!
Comfortable mattress
A common complaint from new RV owners is how uncomfortable factory mattresses are. Unless you are able to purchase a very high-end RV, this may be your case as well.
If so, the DynastyMattress CoolBreeze Gel Memory Foam Mattress may be your solution! It comes in standard RV mattress sizes and features a 2.5″ CoolBreeze GEL 4lb High-Density Open Cell Memory Foam on the top.
This mattress also includes a washable cover, and the 20 years Limited Warranty is a testament to its quality.
- RV & CAMPER QUEEN MATTRESS
- The 4 lbs. of gel-infused memory foam in this short-queen-size mattress compresses evenly under body weight and contours to the edges of your body
- Features a luxurious detailed mattress cover with new cool silk technology and 4-way stretch. This cotton-and-polyester cover comes with a zipper near the top and is machine washable for ease and convenience while on the road.
Mattress Toppers
If getting a whole new mattress is out of your budget, or you like it somewhat, then the next step would be to add a topper.
The Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress Topper provides a good balance of comfort and support.
The CertiPUR-US certified memory foam comes with different thickness ranging from 1” to 4”, and it is offered in different sizes.
Mattress Protector
The next step is to protect your new mattress (or mattress + topper combo).
For some odd reason, I had a difficult time finding mattress protectors that would work on RV sized mattresses.
In the end, I got lucky and found this RUN2BED Luxury RV Waterproof Mattress Protector.
It fits our RV queen-sized mattress perfectly, and after two years of use it still works like a charm.
I also had a difficult time finding protectors for the bunk beds. Bunk beds are tricky because they actually come in different sizes, so you will need to measure yours!
Yet, when it comes to kids, it is even more important to have protectors for the mattresses for reasons that are obvious to every parent on Earth.
We are using these mattress protectors for our kids’ bunk beds.
Bedding for Different Sizes
Lastly, let’s not forget to make the bed!
Honestly, you can use regular sized sheets if you do not mind the sheets being oversized and maybe sagging a bit.
It wouldn’t be pretty, but it would work.
However, if you want your RV beds to look neat, then you will need to use the correct sizes.
We are using these RV Bed Sheets. They are simple, 100% cotton sheets with a sateen weave, which gives it a bit of a shiny look.
They come in multiple colors and in every size imaginable, so you will probably be able to find a size that will work for all of your beds!
